About Mr. Hand's ClassroomHello! I am Mike Hand and I am the math teacher for all of our middle school students. I also teach Algebra 1 for our 9th graders.
During the school year, your child will regularly IXL to help with their individual strengths and weaknesses. I encourage each student to do their very best for each pretest and growth check. This ensures that all students are progressing at a pace that meets their needs. I incorporate this technology with class rotations every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The rotations allow students to work on their individual needs, permit exposure to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for their prospective grade level, a warm up activity that uses background knowledge to learn the new standard, and any earned time the students gain from working hard during their hour with me. On Mondays, I like to assess the students' knowledge of current grade standards and use this measure to make any changes to the plans for the week. Fridays are for assessing student mastery of the standard for the week. I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at the email address below. Additonally, if you could take a moment to complete the following parental survey, it would be most appreciated. We are always looking to better serve our students. Our summer program begins on June 14th, as May 26th is our last official school day. During the summer program all of our kids will receive programming in Reading, Math, and STEAM focused learning. It is similar to a day camp in that we try to engage the students in fun ways to learn. |
